Enlightenment

He is confused by everything he sees,
tired by the endless,needless strings
of omnipresent and absolute stupidity
that they demonstrate.

Why don't they understand?
A question that none can answer,
as he goes on another rant
about the meaninglessness of it all.

The creation of life, the meaning of it,
all drops in the sea of complete emptiness
as small meaningless bits
of conversations about permed hair and shoes.

No place for a thinking person,
he is trapped in the web of frustration
Until he realizes
Ignorance is bliss.

Physics?

A Satirical Ode to Physics

Physics, Oh Physics.
You reduce me to tears.
Every time finals roll around,
Seeing you becomes my greatest fear.

When they're over I feel carefree.
Thinking everything is done.
Then physics grades make me melancholy,
they prevent me from having fun.

Physics, oh Physics.
I thought I understood you so.
Kinematics seemed like a breeze,
Magnetism I felt I know,
Formulae I memorized with ease.

But then came the quiz,
it was impossible to figure out.
My mind went blank,
I just wanted to shout.

Physics, oh Physics.
I don't know why I stick with you.
I don't get a thing,
yet, despite the challenge,
I find you extremely interesting.

A Serious Ode to Physics

Lost like a needle in a haystack,
wandering around an abyss.
You grind to halt and then,
like a horse spurred,
race forward again.

Arguing and fighting like children
men with mammoth ideas
and short memories clamour,
trying to court you.

Your complexities are clearly visible,
in the face that is ever-changing,
seemingly lost in a sea of problems,
waves of momentary understanding
tempered with confusion.

Swirling through space and time,
attracting contemplation and curious stares.
You are our best bet for figuring out
this strange shapeless timeless universe.

Physics, you are the darkest corner,
and the brightest beacon.
Relatively, of course.
